OPEN FORUM


Discussed-

-Upcoming Smackmellon internship- handed out info. More information can be found on line at www.smackmellon.com (Since the open forum, three students that they have received the internship and will be working there over the winter.)

-Graham talked about an email invitation to exhibit in China.  Details of the place and application were discussed.  

- Jann Rosens Queralt's upcoming class in the fall '10 will focus on a collaboration with the Walters Museum- this was discussed in response to the earlier request that Jann teach a class of this sort again.

- Sarah Doherty's axis alley project was discussed. More information can be found on the article  http://www.citypaper.com/arts/story.asp?id=19284 

-Departmental Website- request for students interested in working on the site. (Graham has followed through and will begin creating a template.)

Announced:
10:30pm Unofficial Radio Station meeting. For more info see Ben Luzzatto.

Presented:
Ben lock presented a powerpoint on Franconia Sculpture Park and talked about the residency and how to apply.

DISCUSSED
  • Requests for Junior studio spaces- discussion of outdoor space in station- Ben Lock clarifies clean up outside and that students should follow through with him.
  • Building Hours- request for 24/7 access- discussion.
  • Both issues above will be taken to the administration via the SVA meetings- coming up soon- October 1st.
  • SVA committee members: Michael Carpenter, Jonathan Taube, Dan Allende, Dylan Conner, Jaime Freedman.
  • Upcoming classes: Ian Cox discussed his request to have Jann Rosen Queralt run the Public Art class again- possibly in the Fall of 2010.


VISITING ARTISTS

  • Jose Ferreira Wednesday, Sep 23 BBOX 7pm
  • Cal Lane Wednesday, Oct 7th BBOX 7pm.
    Jonathan Taube requests John Baldessari to come and speak at MICA.



    ARTIST PLATFORMS

    • Jaime Freedman asked for the Grant Intership info in the Bank Building to be posted in Station
    • Al Zaruba stopped by to invite students to an opening event at his house.
    • Tylden Streett stopped by to have a slice of pizza and talk.
    • Art Market coming up in December- will continue discussing at next Open Forum.
